Daniel and Kendall have been best friends since middle school, but didn’t start dating until their sophomore year of college. Daniel transferred from Appalachian State University to be closer to her at UNC Charlotte where they both graduated from on the same day.
“Two days before Christmas (my parents’ wedding anniversary), Daniel took me out to a nice dinner. After dinner, we agreed to open our Christmas gifts to each other. Daniel handed me a gift bag with a small remote control and blind fold. He had me put the blind fold on and hold the remote. Very confused, I walked outside with him. When I pressed the button on the remote and removed the blind fold, Christmas lights spelled out, “Will you marry me?”. He then got down on one knee. It was magical!” shared Kendall.
The couple got married at Shady Grove United Methodist Church where Kendall had been a member since she was young. Dinner and dancing followed at The Wright Place, and their reception incorporated the colors of black and gold.
“I love black and gold together! It seemed to be the perfect scheme for a November wedding,” said Kendall.
“One of the most unique elements of our day was that Daniel and I had a tree planting ceremony instead of a unity candle. We had soil from each of our childhood homes that we sprinkled around the tree.
“We also decided to do a ‘first look’. It helped us feel more relaxed and we enjoyed having a special moment right before the wedding.
“I would not change anything about our wedding day. We had the time of our lives at our reception. It was amazing to have all our friends and family together in the same room. The day seemed to go by in the blink of an eye!” Kendall concluded.
