Fall/Winter 2019

Emma & Tyler

September 2, 2018

"Tyler and I are both musicians, and I graduated from high school with his little brother, Mark. Out of the blue one day, I got a message from Mark telling me I should get together to collaborate with his older brother who was also a local musician living in Greensboro."

"Was it love at first sight? This is a loaded question for us; you see, Tyler is actually blind. He was diagnosed at age 21 with a degenerative retinal disease for which there is still no cure, and so he's been steadily and swiftly losing his sight most of the second half of his life. We quickly became friends, then best friends, and eventually love was inevitable.

"On Christmas Eve 2017, we were shuffling from my familyís gathering to Tylerís dad and stepmomís gathering. He motioned me to the porch steps, where the sweetest Christmas tree was lit up, and a ring box sitting under it like the present Iíd been waiting for my whole life. Guitar in hand, Tyler went on to play and sing me the most beautiful original song about our love story, took me up the steps, got down on one knee, and asked me to be his wife. He pulled out the garage door opener and all of our family came spilling out to surprise and celebrate with us! We went on to record that song as a duet and danced to it at our wedding as our first dance!

"Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. Iím an old soul and love all things classic, vintage, and elegant. I truly wanted it to be timeless. We had a family friend graciously lend us this incredibly 1951 electric blue Packard classic car that totally added to the Ďclassicí piece of our theme.

"Family was an underlying theme for our wedding, as well. My dad built the beautiful arbor at the beginning of our aisle, my mom painted the sign for our milkshake bar, Tyís stepdad provided lighting for our dance floor, his cousin was our officiant, and Tyler and I both stressed the importance of family in our vows; itís truly one of our common bonds to each other.

"At our reception, we had four of our bridesmaids/groomsmen speak, and not a single eye was dry after the kind, hilarious, memorable remarks they made. It was unlike any wedding Iíve ever been to and Iím so humbled to say we truly were surrounded that day by the most incredible, loving group of people to send us off on our life together.Ē ~ Emma
