Perren & Joel
November 10, 2018
"Joel and I were set up by his sister-in-law. I was living in Nashville and came to N.C. to visit family. While I was home Joel called and asked me to dinner, which I loved he did not text! Our first date was good, but I wasn’t sure there would be a second. A few days later he asked me out again. By the third date I knew I really liked him, and three months later I moved back to N.C. We took a couple of breaks because life was throwing some hard punches, but in the end, it grew us together.”
"Joel asked me to dinner on a Tuesday night. For several weeks I thought a proposal was coming, so I was always sure to dry my hair and put on real clothes instead of my usual athleisure wear. Before dinner, he asked me to marry him. Simple and sweet.
"Our wedding day was perfect. It was a gorgeous sunny fall day. All the right colors. We had a small intimate wedding at the chapel at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Since I’d lost both of my parents and Joel his mom, we didn’t want to have a great big wedding. After the ceremony, we went back to my childhood home and had a light afternoon reception followed by an evening party with our closest friends.
"The most unique element of our wedding day was having the reception at my house with all the furniture in it. My bouquet was a pallet of soft colors with foliage from my yard. I wanted to tie my parents in as much as I could, so I used as many elements from our house as I could. The only thing I would want different is to have had my parents and Joel’s mom there. Then, it would have been perfect." ~ Perren
