“Our wedding colors were blush and gold. I initially chose gold because I love sparkle, twinkle lights, and warmth. I added blush because it was soft and subtle, and complemented our venues well.
The most unique part of our wedding weekend was our rehearsal dinner. Jonathan was raised by a well-loved single mother, whom he lost to cancer just several months before we met. His parents were no longer around to host our rehearsal dinner, which left us planning on hosting it ourselves. That is, until we got a call from my Aunt Carin and Uncle Ben. Carin and Ben live in Iowa and had never met Jonathan. They have many well-loved nieces, nephews, and ‘fur babies,’ but no children of their own. They knew Jonathan wouldn’t have parents supporting him on our wedding day, and felt moved to step in and love him on our wedding weekend as his ‘surrogate parents.’ They hosted our rehearsal dinner and made a point to support Jonathan on our wedding day. We have never felt so loved and in awe of the incredible family we have been blessed with.
Our wedding day was exactly what we wanted: a day of joy, thanksgiving, and worship. We were astounded by the outpouring of love from every single person in the room. No, not everything went perfectly. There were small disappointments, periods of rain, broken zippers, and temporarily lost ties. But, none of that matters anymore. Our wedding day was perfect because of the people that were there, and the way that they made us feel.” ~ Madelyn
