Ashton & Coard
Ashton met Coard in the summer of 2010 at church camp where she was a camper and he was a staff member, and they soon became friends. After Coard contacted her on Facebook that fall, they dated long distance for three and a half years from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and the University of South Carolina. “Coard and I were intentional with our relationship and knew if we were going to date long distance, there needed to be a great possibility of marriage down the road.”
Once Ashton and Coard were finally able to live in the same city, they took a trip to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. After walking around the property all day to scout the perfect spot to propose, Coard asked Ashton to marry him in an intimate moment for just the two of them.
With neutral wedding colors and styles, Ashton and Coard were able to achieve a classic and timeless look and used several vendors they discovered in TriadWeddings Magazine. The bridesmaids’ dresses were a soft gray, the groomsmen wore navy suits, and Coard made the sweet gesture of surprising Ashton by wearing a Carolina blue bowtie, even though he attended the “other” Carolina. Their florist created floral arrangements featuring light pinks, ivories, greenery and a hint of gray to grant the illusion that the flowers were picked from their very venue. Furthermore, this dedicated couple utilized Coard’s graphic design talents to create all of their save the dates, invitations, response cards, ceremony programs, place cards, table numbers and guestbook.
In the weeks leading up to their late August wedding at L’Abri at Linwood, the happy couple fretted over the potential bad weather that could interfere with their outdoor ceremony, but when the special day finally arrived the weather could never have been more beautiful. “From the first look and prayers before the ceremony to walking down the aisle and dancing with all of our friends, we could not have asked for a better day,” remembered Ashton.
