Although they lived only fifteen minutes apart, Meredith and Rob met at Oak Island while on vacation with their families. Vacationing in houses beside each other, Rob and a friend went over to Meredith’s house and invited themselves to join in a game of cornhole. Meredith reluctantly agreed, and after many games, she found herself laughing so hard that her stomach hurt. The two had an immediate connection and soon became inseparable.
Fast forward four years later, and after many more vacations together to Oak Island, Rob joined Meredith’s family there again for New Year’s Eve, but wasn’t able to arrive until 10:30 p.m. that night because of his work schedule. As soon as he arrived, he made a beeline to Meredith asking her to take a walk on the beach. Reluctant again because it was pitch dark outside, Meredith agreed. Little did she know that Rob would lead her to the exact spot where they had first met, get down on one knee and ask for her hand in marriage.
Meredith described their wedding day as “perfect”! She and Rob selected to have their ceremony and reception at Bella Collina Mansion overlooking Belews Lake, and incorporated some of their favorite colors, purple and sea foam.
Despite the fact that there was a chance of rain on their wedding day, Meredith was dead set on getting married by the lake unless there was a downpour.
“I didn’t have to worry about that at all. The Bella Collina staff set up a ceremony inside and out, just to make sure we had both options,” said Meredith.
Although the raindrops began to fall as Meredith’s father walked her down the aisle, they didn’t last long and the couple said their “I Do’s” in front of the most beautiful view of the lake.
Guests enjoyed a delicious meal and then the celebration continued on the deck as everyone danced the night away!
“From engagement pictures to bridals to the wedding day, we were nothing short of amazed at our pictures. Jonathan and Renee McCardell were so easy going and had us laughing within 10 minutes of meeting them. I wouldn’t change a thing about our wedding day,” said Meredith. “I would do it over and over again!”
