Spring/Summer 2015

Jessica & Travis

Jessica and Travis knew each other during high school and managed to somewhat keep in touch throughout the years. They both happened to be living back in High Point at the same time and Travis asked if Jessica would like to get together and catch up.

“Our relationship gradually grew, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that this was the man
I wanted to share my life with,” said Jessica.

Travis took Jessica to the Eli Moore House, a historical homestead, which used to belong to his family. He was telling Jessica about his family history and stated that he hoped they could create a history of their own and he asked her to be his wife.

“He had both of our families waiting to congratulate us. It was simply perfect,” remembered Jessica.

The couple married at Chestnut Hill Farm, Jessica’s family’s home in High Point.

“It was the perfect place to begin my life journey with Travis, as it is a place that is very special to me and helped shape me into the person I am today.

“Our wedding theme was southern vintage and included the colors ivory, blush pink, mint green and champagne. I chose these colors because they were soft, romantic, and worked well with the vintage theme. My engagement ring was my grandmother’s, as well as the pearl necklace I wore.

“It was a beautiful spring day with flowers in bloom throughout the property. The beginning of the day was filled with lots of laughter and happy tears, as I got ready with my bridesmaids and my family. Travis and I decided to do the ‘First Look’ so that we could share a special moment between the two of us prior to the wedding. I met him down in a valley of trees and when he turned around I was overcome with emotion…I was marrying my best friend!” Jessica shared.

Surrounded by family and friends, the ceremony was perfect. The cocktail hour offered some of their favorite treats, including Jessica’s Mom’s chestnut soup and Jordan Juice, also known as Bourbon Slush. The tented reception on the lawn began with a southern “farm to table” family style dinner, catered by Sweet Basil’s Catering, and was served on mismatched vintage dishes.

“The Risse band had everyone on their feet dancing away and if you weren’t dancing, you were probably in the ‘Stogie Section’ enjoying a hand rolled cigar, or at the ice cream truck enjoying a sweet treat! It was the best night of our lives, no detail left undone!” said Jessica.

“The entire day was unique to me, but there is something that I will always remember from our day. The honey we gave as favors were from my family’s bee hives. My brother, Zach, is the beekeeper. On the day of our wedding, the bees from one of our hives swarmed, which they have never done before, to just outside of the wedding tent. My brother called in help from some of his fellow beekeepers and they were able to relocate the swarm to another hive. I took the bees swarming as a sign that this marriage was meant to be as the bee was one of our details carried throughout our wedding. Our song, ‘Memories of Us’ by Keith Urban, has a line in it that says, ‘I wanna sleep with you forever and I wanna die in your arms, in a cabin by a meadow where the wild bees swarm’, and my brother in his toast explained that bees swarm when a new queen emerges. I felt that I was emerging into a new life with Travis.

“Dr. David Long, our officiate, is a long time family friend who married my parents, baptized me and married two of my brothers as well. It was very meaningful for him to marry us and be a part of this new journey in our lives.

“Just Priceless was exceptional at listening to what we wanted and delivering arrangements just as we envisioned them! They are simply the best!

“Renee with Sweet Basil’s Catering went above and beyond for us by using some of my favorite recipes by my Mom, such as her chestnut soup and smoked salmon spread.

“Our vendors really helped make the day so much more personal. I wouldn’t change a single thing about our wedding, except that I wish it could have lasted longer!” remembered Jessica.
